Asylum Lake Main Page

bullet As part of its evaluation of the Asylum Lake Property, the Asylum Lake Focus Group requested a survey of natural features and habitat.

bullet The Kalamazoo Nature Center was contracted to conduct the survey.  The KNC staff:

  • conducted field research on the property
  • interviewed research principles and reviewed reports
  • conducted archival searches at the University Archives and the Kalamazoo Public Library.

bullet The report, "Historical Uses and Land Cover, Natural Features Inventory, and Habitat Enhancement Recommendations", was completed in October 2001, and then revised in 2002.  It was submitted to Vice President Robert Beam in February 2002.  The complete report is on file in the Campus Planning office.
