University Magazine
bullet "University Magazine" (a precursor of "WMU Magazine") was a quarterly publication of WMU's Alumni Relations Office, produced by the Office of University Information.

bullet The featured article of the Spring/Summer, 1970 issue of "University Magazine" described the planned and ongoing physical changes to the university campus.  Titled "The Return of the Pedestrian" and written by Dr. Myron L. Coulter, WMU Vice President for Institutional Services, the article summarizes the goals and results of many years of physical master planning by University staff and consultants.

bullet The main points for the campus reorganization were:

  • Increasing the building density on the main campus

  • Imaginative architectural and landscaping treatment of buildings and walkways

  • Functional but aesthetically appealing physical environment

  • Reduction of faculty and student travel to East Campus

  • Easy walking distances between academic facilities
