Sangren Hall Renovation Stratagies

Strategies for Renewal of Sangren Hall:

  • Upgrade and replace exhausted building systems: mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
  • Install or upgrade infrastructure to support state-of-the-art instructional technology, building security and communications systems.
  • Upgrade or remodel the building to be fully compliant with barrier-free access requirements.
  • Reconfigure and relocate key building functions
    • Group or consolidate program and department spaces to improve access to, and enhance interactions between, faculty, staff and students.
    • Locate functions with a high volume of “one-time” and visitor traffic, such as student services and the counseling center, near major building entrances to improve wayfinding and circulation.
    • Group University classrooms to form an instructional core, enhanced by efficient vertical building circulation.
    • Create centralized open areas for study lounges and congregation spaces
  • Improve occupant productivity and comfort with renewed interior finishes and energy-efficient lighting fixtures.
  • Renew building exterior skin to improve overall energy-efficiency.
  • Base replacement of building systems, fixtures, equipment, and finishes on overall durability, low maintenance, and low life-cycle costs.
